"Soul of the City", photodocumentary of New Orleans art, music and culture

The Peace Museum invites you to experience "Soul of the City" from March through July 2006. Acclaimed photographers Keith Calhoun and Chandra McCormick lost their home and studio when the Lower Ninth Ward was ravaged by floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina. They salvaged their now historic negatives by hand from the debris. Their photos document an entire community captured from inside, which we are now privileged to share with you. Let "Soul of the City" inspire hope that New Orleans will not only be rebuilt, but will be restored to its original composition of culture and color.

This exhibition is dedicated to Keith and Chandra and to all the residents of New Orleans who lost so much.
