Arthur Rome Richardson's "God Bless The Child"

This photographic exhibit celebrates the lives of African American children with black and white images that depict the realism of everyday life through a child's eyes.

About the Photographer, Arthur Rome Richardson has been fortunate enough to witness and experience the benefits and consequences of being Black in America from multiple perspectives. Through the journey of the African-American from youth to adulthood, Mr. Richardson has gleaned an affinity for looking at children through their soulful eyes as well as a distinct eye for capturing the hope for our future from a balanced point of view. Viewing God Bless the Child sends adult viewers to happy childhood places. Mr. Richardson earnestly believes this project proves that African-American children are much more than victims, criminals, and clowns. They are to be embraced, nurtured, and mentored to their highest potential. An ardent photographer, filmmaker, and writer, Mr. Richardson developed his flair for black-and-white photography after a stint at Columbia College. His talent has led him to being sought after at festivals, to being featured at gallery openings, as well as to serving as a staff photographer at a city agency. Mr. Richardson currently serves as a region manager for the second-largest parks and recreation organization in the nation.
