Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Mural Competition

The Peace Museum is partnering with Hostelling International Chicago to once again host a competition for art students in Chicago honoring the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. Twenty student artists will be invited to create murals depicting Dr. King's work and the ongoing struggle for social justice on the second floor windows of the Chicago hostel, at the corner of Congress and Wabash. We are currently accepting applicants for this unique opportunity.

I.F. Stone Peacemaking Award for excellence in Journalism

It was a great honor for The Peace Museum to present Amy Goodman from "Democracy Now" with The Peace Museum's first ever I.F. Stone Peacemaking Award for excellence in Journalism. This award was a tribute to Amy's contributions to peace and social justice. We, as an organization have great respect for the work that she has committed her life to, as it is also part of our mission to give an uncensored voice to the voiceless and to the ignored through public exhibitions.

Dahr Jamail

The Peace Museum and Voices in the Wilderness will host Dahr Jamail April 22nd - Open 5pm, Presentation Starts at 6pm

Dahr Jamail's independent reporting from Iraq has kept his readers better informed than CNN, Fox News, and NPR combined. Having just returned from Iraq, Dahr will share his most recent experiences and stories he has heard firsthand from the Iraqi people. He will present photos and new video footage from inside devastated Fallujah, as well as give his analysis of the "mainstream media's successful efforts to whitewash the Iraq catastrophe for the Bush administration", and what we can do about it.
